Sheltered Dreams series
2022 to 23
Two charcoal drawings on pergamenata paper, double sided freestanding frame
32 x 25 cm unframed
'The house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace' - Gaston Bachelard, 'Poetics of Space'
This series of drawings began alongside the larger scale studio work, ‘Dwelling’. This body of work is inspired by the impact of exterior light on interior spaces and the blurring of boundaries between our exterior and interior lives.
Focusing on responses to patterns of light, the work is informed by ideas on the value of home to fortify and nurture. Presenting the work in rhythms of light prompts conversations between the double sided drawings; aspects are revealed while others recede, becoming obscured.
