Rhythms of Restlessness series

2024

Mixed media drawings on paper
40 x 30 cm unframed

This body of work is inspired by the sculptural concrete relief panels made by artist Fred Millett in 1965 for the University of York. The rhythms of forms are compelling.

Working in layers, this series of mixed media drawings on paper are made using rhythmic drawing processes. The title comes from Pevsner’s remarks on the panels as ‘restless’ in his 1972 account of the site.

‘drawing produces a rhythmic configuration of the real born from the very rhythm of the body’ - Daniel Arasse, ‘The Memory of Drawing’
